Do hiring managers actually like using job portals to find candidates? As a job seeker, I've never liked them. Every company would have their "own" site, which is often just a career portal template, forcing me to enter the same info over and over again. It always ended up being a whole lot of work for a whole lot of nothing.
Not at all. It adds more complexity than needed. The portals the managers interface with are the internal portals at the company that set the workflow from interviewing to hiring to onboarding. The kind that you have to have filled out before moving into the next step.
funny seeing words like - sending a fax, using Dice or Monster - all things I’ve used before. seems like forever ago
cannot agree more on the human element. which is why I always respond to recruiters who engage me on LinkedIn - even if the role isn’t for me (or I’m not even looking) perhaps I can introduce them to someone who is a good fit
People over systems. 💯
I don’t have any time for recruiters who find me by keyword search and don’t even what the keyword means or it’s context. 🤦♂️
PS: Are you running the London marathon?

I wish! Ran it in 2021 and we were treated to a beautiful, sunny race day.
Next up is Tokyo in March and then Boston in April.
That’s always helpful Randy. Keeping the human connection going.
